- Aren’t sure if you're ready for a COO or Integrator
- Curious about what a COO could do for you and your company
- Wonder if you need a fractional vs full time COO
If you’re ready to see what a Fractional COO / Integrator could do to transform your business, then book a Discovery Call to learn more.
Wolf’s Edge Fractional COOs (Integrators) are people who have owned and/or run businesses who help frustrated and overwhelmed business owners by serving as the COO/Integrator in their companies.
Just like a full-time COO, they act as a strategic partner with the business owner/Visionary, turn the leadership team into a group of people who can run the day-to-day without the the business owner’s constant intervention, and drive execution of the vision by the leadership team (and, by extension, the rest of the company).
Your Wolf’s Edge COO spends the first few weeks meeting with you, your leadership team, and other key employees to understand your business, how things work, where the issues are, and what’s important.
We deliver a proposed Chaos to Control Roadmap™, get on the same page with you about the plan of attack and order of operations to achieve the goals you will have articulated. Then begin driving execution on the plan.
We do this by holding weekly “Same Page Meetings” with you, running weekly leadership team (Level 10) meetings, regularly meeting with leadership team members one-on-one, driving execution of stated goals and metrics among the leadership team on an ongoing basis, and taking on appropriate Rocks (quarterly goals) like replacing a key team member, driving the rollout of a new technology, or coaching a team on documentation of core processes.
Our rates are higher than many other Fractional Integrator or COO firms because our clients need experienced executives who own and/or have run companies before. They are not merely project managers or meeting facilitators. Our rates therefore reflect the executive experience our clients require.
Our monthly retainers typically range from $5,000-$15,000 per month, depending on a number of factors, including the nature and urgency of your goals, the makeup of the leadership team, the complexity of your business, and the projects and priorities your Wolf’s Edge COO will be responsible for.
YES! We put our money where our mouth is. We are confident that we are the best Fractional COO solution to address our clients’ strategic needs.
Our guarantee is simple. If our clients fulfill their accountabilities as outlined in our proposal, and do not feel we fulfilled our accountabilities, and give us a chance to make it right, we will refund 100% of their first month’s investment if we cannot make it right.
Ask your leadership team, coach, and consultant to pay you back if you don’t get the results they promised. If they don’t, then simply book a call with one of our Fractional COOs to find out why we do.
Most engagements last 9-18 months. Our end-goal is to elevate someone internally or hire a COO/Integrator from the outside when the client is ready.
We do not bill by the day, half-day, or by the hour. Our monthly retainers are based on the amount of support we estimate it will take to drive achievement of your stated goals, not a specific time commitment.
That being said, our Wolf’s Edge COOs typically spend (on average) between a little less than a day each week to a-day-and-a-half each week with our clients.
If you want to continue exploring working together after the initial discovery call (1st call) and the subsequent proposal call (2nd call), we introduce you to the member of our team we believe is likely the best fit (3rd call) for you based on:
- Availability
- Ability to solve your specific core challenges
- Personality compatibility
- Industry experience
Wolf’s Edge COOs are for business owners who…
- Need and want an experienced executive to turn their business from a bundle of chaos to a self-managing business that will free them up to spend time on the people and things they love
- Are eager for us to join them as a strategic partner to formulate a plan and drive execution on that plan to achieve their goals, up-level their leadership team to be able to completely take over day-to-day operations, and ultimately pass the baton to a long-term, full-time COO/Integrator
We are not for people who…
- Only need an EOS tool facilitator, meeting facilitator, or project manager
- Don’t need or aren’t looking for an experienced executive for their COO/Integrator
- Don’t need major change in their business because they feel like most everything in their business is going well and believe all they need is a little tweaking to get incrementally better
An EOS Implementer, whether Professional, Certified, or Expert helps you get clarity during full-day sessions with your leadership team. An Implementer does not help you actually execute in between those session days.
Each EOS Implementer is a franchisee of EOS Worldwide and teaches you and your leadership team the EOS® tools, facilitates your decision-making about how you apply those tools to your business, and coaches you on this decision-making process. EOS Implementers do this through full-day sessions with your leadership team. There are three session-days during the first quarter of your implementation. After that, it transitions to one-day quarterly sessions and a two-day annual planning session. Click here to read more about EOS Implementers on EOS Worldwide’s website.
In contrast, a Fractional COO (Integrator) is the member of your leadership team to whom the rest of the leadership team reports. He or she sits on your Accountability (Org) Chart. This person integrates and leads the various functions of your business (each of which are, in turn, led by members of your leadership team), and drives your actual execution of everything you agreed to do in your EOS session-days.
We strongly recommend that our clients work with an EOS Implementer, if possible, to allow our Wolf’s Edge COO to stay 100% focused on strategic leadership and execution without the distraction of also being responsible for the organization's self-implementation of EOS.
We often refer EOS Implementers to our clients who do not already have a relationship with one. Even if a client is not yet ready to engage with an EOS Implementer, we have found that they get a lot of value from having one conduct a free “90 Minute Meeting” with the leadership team.
Your business does not have to already run on EOS for us to work together.
That being said, every business needs metrics, goals, a way to manage major strategic projects, a vision, a definition of what kinds of people they are looking for, and a way of finding the right people and repelling the wrong people. These elements, among others, make up a company’s “business operating system” (“BOS”).
Our primary value to you is providing you with an experienced executive leading your leadership team, becoming your strategic partner to create and execute a roadmap for transformative change, and making your business self-managing. Just like a skilled carpenter needs tools to do his or her job, a BOS is one of your Wolf’s Edge COO’s tools.
While EOS is not the only BOS, it is a great one and our experience tells us that it works. We have therefore decided to keep things simple by having all of our clients use the same BOS. That way, every member of our team uses the same terminology for the same underlying concepts to avoid confusion. Accordingly, our clients use the EOS tools, whether they used them before working with us or whether they begin using them in collaboration with their EOS Implementer or via self-implementation.
The COO/Integrator is the leader of the leadership team, and he or she is the person to whom they report, even in a fractional engagement. The COO/Integrator is a strategic partner with the owner/Visionary, drives execution of the vision down into the company through the leadership team, and ensures that all of the various functions and departments of the business are integrated with one another and that everyone is rowing in the same direction.
A VP/Head of Ops/General Manager, on the other hand, is just one member of the leadership team who reports to the COO/Integrator. He or she is responsible for the actual product and/or service that the business provides to its customers or clients.
One reason for the common confusion between the COO/Integrator and the VP/Head of Ops/GM roles is that in the majority of businesses where the Integrator is full-time, he or she also serves as the organization’s VP/Head of Ops/GM. The COO/Integrator part of their role takes up about 20% of their time and the VP/Head of Ops/GM part of their role takes up 80% of their time.
Wolf’s Edge COOs only serve as our clients’ COO/Integrator (i.e., the most strategic 20% of the role), and not as their VP/Head of Ops/GM. Someone working full-time with our clients serves as the VP/Head of Ops/GM and this person will report to your Wolf’s Edge COO.
As noted in the previous question, in the majority of businesses where the COO is full-time, he or she also serves as the organization’s VP/Head of Ops/GM or manages major strategic projects. The COO/Integrator part of their role takes up about 20% of their time and the VP/Head of Ops/GM or project management part of their role takes up the other 80% of their time.
A Fractional COO / Integrator simply separates out the 20% of the role related to strategic leadership and execution. Click here to read more about the difference.
